Sphere Sovereignty
The Bible teaches there are areas of governance designated to specific areas of life. This is known as sphere sovereignty. Some of these areas include self governance, family governance, church governance and civil governance. Rulership within these spheres of governance is designated to each of the rulers of these spheres and the other rulers have no jurisdiction outside of their specific spheres. For example, the state is not to intrude into the family sphere unless a state law is broken by that family member. When the state seeks to interfere in a sphere where it is not authorized to intervene, then the state needs to be resisted. For example, if the state seeks to impose its views on the worship within the church, the people are to resist the state since it is not ruling within its confined jurisdiction.
